Rainbow Pram Blanket

Beautiful Rainbow Stripes

There has been a new addition to our
extended family recently and I
wanted to make something a
little bit special for her when she arrived.

A hand made gift is always special to me and
I hoped that by making something a baby
it would always remind them of the
love they create with their arrival.

I have been working on this
beautiful pram blanket
made with the most gorgeously soft wool.

The wool was a bit of an impulse buy
(not like me at all - ha ha)
from KnitPicks
which I saw featured in an advert on Face Book

The yarn is called Mighty Stitch
and is an 80/20 mix of acrylic and wool.

It is so soft and snuggly
and the colours are gorgeous.

I used a pattern by Little Doolally called the
Its such a simple pattern to follow
but looks
 as though it would take
a lot of hard work to create.

I tweaked the border
to create  a  more feminine feel.

I also felt the blanket was a tad small
with the border detailed in the pattern
so I added alternating rows of
double crochet into the back of the loop
before adding the shell.

The inspiration for the shell pattern was taken from
here which again,
I tweaked a little but is basically the same.

I was so pleased with the end result
and my two little
people wanted to keep it for themselves.

I will definitely be using this yarn again.

It also gave me the opportunity
to make my first entry into my

This is a fantastic ring bound book
which helps you to keep
a detailed ledger of all your crochet projects
and has space for you enter notes about
the project,
yarn used,
and there's even a
sheet of graph paper for you to
colour in with your pencils and generally
have fun.

It's a fantastic little book.

All that is left for me to do  now is wrap the blanket in some
pretty girly pink tissue paper and parcel
it up ready to send.

Until next time,

enjoy you day.
